Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose will be published on November 14, 2017

This fall, Vice President Joe Biden will travel the nation for his American Promise Tour, a series of conversations that will go beyond the 24-hour news cycle and 140-character arguments to connect friends and neighbors around the topics that matter most. Tickets to the American Promise Tour include a copy of Vice President Biden’s forthcoming memoir, PROMISE ME, DAD: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose (November 14, 2017; $27, Flatiron Books).

Vice President Biden will be joined by inspiring figures from the worlds of politics, entertainment, news, philanthropy, sports, and literature in each city. On Monday, December 11, Vice President Biden will be in conversation with Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor Leslie Odom Jr. at the Chicago Theatre at 7:30 PM.

During these conversations, Vice President Biden will reveal the big political moments of his career, the life-altering choices he made, and the key traits that have helped him persevere through challenges and live with purpose. He will discuss PROMISE ME, DAD, which chronicles 2015, the most momentous and challenging year in Vice President Biden’s extraordinary life and career. For twelve months, the vice president balanced the twin imperatives of living up to his responsibilities to his country and his family while his son Beau battled brain cancer. Never far away was the insistent question of whether he should seek the presidency in 2016. Writing with poignancy and immediacy, Vice President Biden allows readers to feel the urgency of each moment, to experience the days when he felt unable to move forward, as well as the days when he felt like he could not afford to stop.

Vice President Biden says, “Writing the book about my son Beau was a deeply personal process. It’s my hope that these discussions about the book will allow people going through similar difficulties to relate and maybe find some hope and purpose in times of severe loss.”

Audio from these conversations will be recorded by Audible, the world’s largest seller and producer of digital spoken word entertainment, and edited into an original program that will be available for download exclusively from Audible in late spring 2018. Conversations with Joe, the Audible Original of Vice President Biden’s tour conversations, is part of the company’s ongoing effort to produce outstanding, original content specifically for the ear, and to share those audio-only experiences with Audible’s millions of listeners around the world.
