Per the City of Chicago’s public health order, in order to attend any indoor events at the Riviera Theatre, all patrons 5 years of age or older are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (must be 2 weeks past final dose) and must show proof of vaccination at the time of entry. A negative COVID-19 test result is no longer valid for entry. Proof of vaccination can only include a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, a clear photocopy or digital photo of the CDC card. Patrons 16 years of age or older will also need to provide a government issued photo ID that matches their vaccination record. The only exception to this policy involves fans who have previously received a medical or religious exemption, as long as those patrons provide proof of the medical or religious exemption and a COVID-19 test administered by a medical professional within the last 72 hours prior to entering the event. Taking these steps helps to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and the artists, and implementing this simple measure minimizes risk and the spread of the virus. We encourage you to get vaccinated and boosted if you have not already!
Following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and based on Chicago’s current local COVID-19 data, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is requiring that everyone age two or older wear masks in public indoor settings except when actively eating or drinking. A non-vented N95 mask or other well-fitted mask is strongly recommended to provide maximum protection. We will not allow a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, single layer of fabric, or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. You assume all risks, hazards, and dangers arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing a communicable disease or illness, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, however caused or contracted, and voluntarily waive all claims and potential claims against Jam Productions, Ltd. and the Riviera Theatre (including Riviera Entertainment Properties, LLC and Riviera Productions, Inc. ) relating to such risks.

How can I buy tickets to Riviera Theatre events?
- Tickets for all events can be found on jamusa.com and AXS.com. Please be aware that a convenience fee will be charged online and over the phone.
- Tickets may be purchased without a convenience fee at The Vic Theatre’s box office, which is located at 3145 N Sheffield. View the Vic’s box office hours.
- You may purchase tickets for shows at the theater’s box office on the day of the show only if they are available. Our box office opens when the doors open on the day of the show.
- All ticket sales are final.
- Please beware of purchasing tickets from a third party or ticket re-seller. AXS.com is the only authorized online seller for Riviera Theatre shows. We cannot guarantee the validity of tickets purchased elsewhere and you risk being denied admission. There are no refunds and/or exchanges if your ticket is found to be fraudulent.
What is the Riviera Theatre’s ticket purchase agreement?
Fans who purchase tickets to a show at the Riviera Theatre will be required to sign a waiver in order to complete their purchase. Here is a summary of the Assumption of Risk, Waiver & Limitation of Liability that can be found on the AXS ticketing system:
- ASSUMPTION OF RISK:
Holder understands and agrees that there are certain risks of injury, illness and/or death of entering the venue and/or attending the event, including, without limitation, objects flying into the spectator area during an event, special effects at an event, acts or omissions of other spectators and risks related to to the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and any resulting disease (together with any mutation, adaptation or variation thereof, “COVID-19”). Holder understands and agrees that these risks cannot be fully eliminated. Holder understands and agrees (a) that the risks of exposure to COVID-19 are increased by proximity to other people, (b) that an inherent and elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place or place where people are gathered, (c) that entering the venue and/or attending the event may involve coming into close contact with other people, and (d) that there is no guarantee, express or implied, that Holder will not be exposed to COVID-19.
- Despite these risks, Holder voluntarily assumes ALL known and potential risk and danger of injury and/or death from any cause, resulting from, in connection with, or incidental to the venue and/or event, including exposure to COVID-19. Holder agrees that the Releasees (defined below) shall not be responsible or liable for any claim, loss, damage or injury, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, regardless of whether caused by the negligence or other fault of Releasees or any third party.
Holder hereby forever releases, waives, discharges and agrees not to sue AXS, Client, Anschutz Entertainment Group, Inc., any owner, manager, operator, or sponsor of the venue, any promoter, producer, or sponsors of the event, any leagues, teams, artists, advertisers or suppliers of the event, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, owners, members, managers, directors, officers, past and present employees, volunteers, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, “Releasees”) for any known or unknown claims, losses, damages, liability, demands or actions incident to entering the venue and/or attending the event, whether such risks and dangers occur before, during, or after the event, including injury or death relating to COVID-19 or any other illness or injury that Holder may sustain while at the venue or related to attending the Event, regardless of whether caused by the negligence or other fault of Releasees or any third party (“Claims”).
- For California residents: I understand that this waiver applies to Claims which I may not know or suspect to exist and I knowingly and voluntarily waive such rights, including those under California Civil Code Section 1542, which provides: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, and that if known by him or her would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws, none of the Releasees are or will be responsible or liable to you or to any third party for, and you expressly waive all rights to seek, any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive or other damages under any theory of liability, arising out of or relating in any way to the Service, transactions made through the Service, and/or materials contained on the Service, or the event (even if we or Client have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damages, or such loss or damages were reasonably foreseeable)
Is there parking near the Riviera Theatre?
While the Riviera Theatre does not operate any public parking, there are multiple parking lots within close distance to the theater and some street parking options. There are a number of surface lots nearby, including the city parking lot at Lawrence & Broadway (just west of the train tracks on the north side of Lawrence), the lot at Lawrence & Winthrop, and the Truman College lot on Wilson (west of Broadway).
How can I get to the Riviera Theatre via Public Transportation?
We highly encourage using public transportation. While the Lawrence Red Line stop is closed, we suggest you get off at the second closest stop on the Red Line, Wilson. Please use the Google Map below to get specific directions.
Can I attend an 18+ event at the Riviera Theatre if I'm under 18 years of age?
Underage persons can only attend 18 and older events at the Riviera Theatre if their own parent or legal guardian accompanies them for the duration of the show. Proof of parent or legal guardianship relationship is required with valid documents and valid identification.
Could an older sibling, relative or friend's parent accompany my friend or me?
No, the only allowable chaperone is your legal parent or guardian.
Why is a show 18+/21+?
Age limitations are determined by the city of Chicago curfew laws and other factors.
Will I need an ID to attend an event at the Riviera Theatre? What forms of ID are valid?
Yes, you will need a Photo ID to enter the venue during all 18+ and 21+ events or to claim Will Call tickets. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Valid, State-issued, Driver’s License (not clipped or punched VOID)
- Valid Passport
- Valid, State-issued, Identification Card (with photo)
- Valid Learner’s Permit (with photo)
- Tribal IDs
How do I get the best spot?
Please arrive early, especially for sold-out shows. The floor and balcony fill up quickly. Once the floor section is filled, security will direct you to other areas of the venue.

Doors typically open 1 hour before show time but please double-check the listing on our website for each event.
Does the Riviera Theatre offer seating?
The Riviera Theatre has a standing room, general admission floor with no seating. The upstairs loge and balcony offer theatre-style seating. Seating upstairs is typically general admission (first come, first served) but please refer to the show pages for more details.
I’m going to a show at the Riviera Theatre, but have a disability/condition/injury/handicap that requires special consideration. What should I do?

Does my child need a ticket?
A ticket is required for all persons 2 years of age or older.

What is the Riviera Theatre’s animal policy?
Except for registered service dogs, animals are not allowed in the Riviera Theatre.
Can I bring my purse or bag to a show?
The only bags allowed inside must be smaller than 12 inches by 12 inches. If your bag is larger, you will not be allowed to bring it inside the venue and it cannot be held at will call. Please note small bags will be searched upon entry.
What other items are not allowed into the Riviera Theatre?
The Riviera Theatre bans guns on the premises. Also prohibited are any other type of weapon, selfie-sticks, large umbrellas, outside food & beverages, cameras with an external flash or detachable lenses, audio/video recording devices, outside food or drink, e-cigarette and vapes, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and other items subject to the discretion of management. Laptops and tablets are also not allowed. If a prohibited item is found, you will be required to secure it elsewhere or dispose of it before entering the Riv. Coat check will not hold these items for you.
Can I use my cell phone during a performance?
Cell phones' ringing can be highly disruptive; please set your phone to silent during all performances. Please limit photo-taking during the performance so everyone around you can enjoy. Please limit phone calls to the lobby or other common areas.
Do you sell food and beverages?
A variety of beverages, including water, wine, beer, spirits, and soft drinks, are available for purchase in the theatre. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Only small, empty, reusable beverage containers will be allowed inside.
What are your security procedures?
Our staff is committed to creating a safe and pleasant experience for all guests. Professional security personnel will check IDs and search bags for prohibited items. Additional screening may be required. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance of the show start time.
Can I go outside during the show and come back in?
There is no re-entry once you have exited. There is no designated smoking area.
